Bye bye Foggy
This is just not fair, my third obit in two days…? anyway, I just have to mention the passing of the much loved British actor Brian Wilde as he brought so much joy and laughter into the lives of so many people. He has died at the ripe old age of 86. He died peacefully in his sleep after suffering a fall seven weeks ago.
Millions knew Brian as the harrassed but sympathetic Mr Barraclough from the British TV comedy series Porridge and when he left that wonderful show we all warmed to him as Foggy in the equally iconic The Last Of the Summer Wine.
He is remembered as an actor of great depth and talent and as a man of even greater warmth. He was loved by all he met and knew. He was an actor who loved to finish his work and then simply get down to the pub and meet and speak with the normal folk…those who watched and loved him.
There are some faces who seemed to have just always been there on the television and Brian was one of them. He will be greatly missed by not just his loving family, but by the many whom he made laugh, smile…and cry.
Vale Brian.
