Sir Paul pays out

The bitter and long drawn out divorce settlement between Sir Paul McCartney and ex-wife Heather Mills has finally come to a head. Ms Mills has walked away with an immediate lump sum settlement of £24.3 million (US$49.3 million) for herself and a yearly allowance of £35,000 (US$70,000) a year maintenance for their daughter Beatrice. Ms Mills had originally wanted £125m plus maintenance for the child. For just four years of marriage. And you have to certainly congratulate her on this victory over a man well known for his meanness where money is concerned. Maybe he was too complacent. But all the same, she is well set up for the rest of her money-grubbing life and her rant outside the court today will win her no friends. No-one likes a bad  winner!

Okay, so the former Beatle stated when he married Ms Mills that a pre-nup was unnecessary when one was ‘in love’. I’ll bet he is eating his words now.  And even though I think she has received far more than she deserved, for just four years of marriage, she was entitled to something. Remember that Paul McCartney was not exactly high on the public stage when he met Heather…she contributed greatly to his new found fame - and that awful red/brown colour he dyed his hair with (think Donald Trump and his comb-over since he took up with Melania).

All the same I think this case, this whole sorry saga carries a few social messages and I think the guys need to sit up and take notice.

Men of Sir Paul’s age, well on their way to old age, need to rethink about the younger wife thing. Okay, you are divorced/widowed and lonely. You have oodles of money. Younger women are attracted to this (to you); a young female on your arm and in your bed feels fantastic and makes you look good to society. And that is where these silly old men trip up.

Since when can an old man not find love, sexual passion and happiness with a woman his own age? Why do they not even try? it all comes down to ego in the end. Male ego.

I will bet you every dollar on earth that Paul McCartney will run a mile next time a youngish female flutters her eyelashes at him.
